Some pieces hold their calm no matter what the day has been like. Around the studio, this one is called the Blue Chrysanthemum Reverie.
Three glass chrysanthemums — petals curling in layered rows that shade from deep blue at the base to frosted, silvery-white tips — rise on slender gold-toned stems from a dark charcoal vase, with small blue glass leaves echoing the colour in a quieter shape. Chrysanthemums have long stood for a steady, enduring kind of devotion: the love that lasts, the one that stays. In blue, it reads calm, cool, unhurried.
By day the glass does the work — cool blue catching the light across a hundred small curves, the gold stems glinting through. After dark, two warm LED strips woven among the stems bring a soft glow up through the petals: not a room light, just a little warmth settling into the corner once the sun goes down.
No water, no wilting — it holds its colour, and its calm, for years. And because each is made by hand, no two are ever exactly the same.
